Often you don't even need to be present when the pods arrive or are picked up. Pods are good for any kind of move, but they are ideal for moves in which there will be more than a few days' lag between moving out of your old home and into your new home. For instance, you may plan to spend a month or two living in a short term rental apartment and looking for a house in your new town after you have closed on the sale of your previous house. If you go through a regular moving company, you will have to have your belongings delivered to storage (with all the wear and tear of moving them off the truck and into the storage unit), then you will have to have them loaded onto a new truck to be brought to your new house. Basically, you run all the risks of moving twice, and you pay for the privilege twice.
